Gasconade County Release Meaning
“Released” describes the end of one period of physical custody. It does not always mean the person went home or that every legal obligation ended. A person may leave a housing jail after posting bond, receiving an own-recognizance release, completing a local sentence, or obtaining a court order. Someone else may leave because Franklin or Osage transferred that person to the Missouri Department of Corrections, another county, the U.S. Marshals Service, or immigration custody. That second event is a movement between custodians, not a release to the community.
Gasconade County has a special records problem. The Gasconade County Sheriff’s Office did not publish a current roster, release archive, or recent-release feed when the sources were reviewed on July 26, 2026. Approved county minutes document prisoner boarding in Franklin and Osage counties. A name disappearing from one jail view may therefore reflect release, transfer, a spelling change, or an offline data source. The actual housing jail’s movement entry, the sheriff’s arrest or transfer record, and the court docket should agree before a community release is treated as confirmed.
A missing roster name is not proof of release. Confirm the destination and legal authority with the agencies that made the record.
Gasconade County Release Types
The label attached to an exit determines what to check next. Bond and own-recognizance releases usually leave the criminal case open. Time served can end the custody portion of a sentence while fines, conditions, or supervision continue. Probation is a court sentence served under conditions in the community. Parole and conditional release follow a prison term and keep the person in MODOC legal custody under supervision. A final discharge ends the correctional sentence or supervision, subject to the controlling order and record.
| Exit type | What it means | Next reliable source |
|---|---|---|
| Bond or recognizance | Physical jail custody ends while the case proceeds | Gasconade Case.net docket and housing-jail release entry |
| Local sentence complete | The ordered jail term or credited time is satisfied | Judgment, docket, and movement record |
| Transfer | Another agency receives custody | Sending record plus the receiving agency’s locator |
| Parole or conditional release | Prison confinement ends under MODOC supervision | MODOC Offender Search and District 16 |
| Final discharge | The correctional term ends | MODOC records or the controlling court order |
An arrest is not a conviction, and release is not a finding about guilt. The record answers custody and court-process questions. It should be read with the disposition because a booking entry may survive after dismissal, acquittal, expungement, or another outcome that changes what may lawfully remain public.
Gasconade County Release Record Fields
No single Gasconade form was found that guarantees every field. A bounded request should seek enough detail to connect the arrest, housing stay, movement, and release authority without asking for unrelated private material. The sheriff may hold the originating arrest and transfer record. Franklin, Osage, or another confirmed housing jail may hold actual intake and door-time data. The Gasconade Circuit Clerk supplies the public order or docket that explains the legal basis.
| Requested field | What it can establish |
|---|---|
| Full name and identifiers | Which person and booking episode the entry concerns |
| Booking identifier | The link between arrest, intake, photo, and movement entries |
| Custody dates and times | When physical control began and ended at that facility |
| Release or transfer reason | Whether the exit was bond, court order, sentence completion, or movement |
| Releasing facility | Which jail made the physical exit record |
| Destination or receiving agency | Whether the person entered another custody system |
| Authority or case number | The court, warrant, commitment, or agency action behind the movement |
| Sentence or supervision status | Whether MODOC custody or community supervision continued |
These records serve different roles. A jail release entry can establish physical movement. It may not prove that every hold was cleared. A court docket can show the order and later disposition, but the official Franklin detention page warns that Case.net updates are not immediate. MODOC’s public search covers active offenders, including many parolees and probationers, but expressly excludes discharged offenders. Each result is evidence from one system, not a complete life history.
Request Gasconade County Release Records
The safest request is narrow, written, and sent to the actual record holder. Gasconade County did not publish a dedicated release-record form, a booking-photo price, a retention schedule, or a promised production time. Missouri law does not require a requester to use a special local form. Ask for electronic delivery and a cost estimate before staff begin work.
- Contact the Gasconade County Sheriff’s Office. Give the correct name, an approximate arrest or booking date, the arresting agency, and a case number if known. Ask which facility housed the person on that date.
- Request the sheriff’s bounded arrest, booking, transfer, and release-authority records. Identify the fields needed instead of asking for every file concerning the person.
- Send a parallel request to the confirmed housing jail for its intake, movement, release or transfer entry, and the booking photograph if that image is relevant and public.
- Use Missouri Case.net or the Gasconade Circuit Clerk for the public judgment, docket, and release authority.
- If the record shows a MODOC, federal, or ICE transfer, continue with that agency’s official search and records channel.

Under RSMo § 610.023, a custodian acts as soon as possible and no later than the end of the third business day after receiving the request. That is a response deadline, not a promise that all records will be produced within three days. If immediate production is not possible, the custodian gives a detailed reason and the earliest place, time, and date for access. A requested written denial must cite its legal basis.
Missouri Release Record Boundaries
Missouri’s Sunshine Law begins with a policy favoring openness, but specific closures still control. RSMo § 610.100 governs law-enforcement records and can limit arrest information based on investigative status, charging, and disposition. Juvenile material, medical information, victim details, personal identifiers, security records, and protected probation or parole material require separate review. When an otherwise public record contains closed material, the custodian may redact the protected portion rather than treat every field as open.
Fees come from RSMo § 610.026, not from an invented Gasconade price. Standard paper copies within the statute’s size limit can cost up to ten cents per page, plus permitted duplication labor. Research, electronic media, image work, and necessary programming may carry the allowed actual costs. Prepayment may be required. Requesters can reduce uncertainty by naming a date range, asking for electronic records, and requesting an estimate first.
Closed and expunged records change public access. Missouri Courts supplies current expungement instructions, while §§ 610.120 and 610.140 govern closed records and petitions. An order can make named court and agency records confidential. A once-visible arrest or release entry may then disappear from public view. That absence must be respected and should not be reconstructed from stale commercial copies.
Which Court Tracks Gasconade Releases?
Gasconade criminal cases remain in Missouri’s 20th Judicial Circuit even when the person sleeps in a jail outside Gasconade County. That creates a two-location check. The housing jail records the physical exit, while the Gasconade court records bond, an own-recognizance order, sentencing, dismissal, or another legal event. Approved Commission minutes also discuss MODOC billing for local time served, showing how county custody, court credit, and state corrections can meet in one case.
The Gasconade County officials directory lists the Circuit Clerk at 119 E. First Street, Suite 6, Hermann, with telephone 573-486-2632. Use the clerk or Case.net for durable public case information. Then compare the order with the jail’s time and destination. A docket entry without a housing-jail movement can miss the actual door time; a movement entry without the docket may not explain the authority.
Find Gasconade County Released Inmates
There is no verified all-county roster or archive to search first. The gold-standard lookup starts with custody reconstruction. It separates a local arrest, a state sentence, and a federal matter before selecting a portal. That distinction prevents a common error: treating a transfer to another jail or prison as a return to the community.
- Ask GCSO which jail housed the person for the date in question. Do not assume Franklin or Osage was used for every Gasconade arrest.
- Check MOVANS and the confirmed facility’s official source for current custody or a recent status. Read the agency, facility, status, and timestamp together.
- Search the Gasconade case in Case.net. Confirm the court order, charge disposition, sentence, bond, or commitment.
- If state prison or supervision is involved, search MODOC. For federal confinement, use BOP; for immigration custody, use ICE.
- When the online path is incomplete, request GCSO’s arrest or transfer record and the housing jail’s movement or release entry.
The Released Last 24 Hours and Released Last 72 Hours pages explain how to define a short window when no official Gasconade feed exists. A date-bounded request can distinguish a release to the community from an agency transfer. It also avoids implying that a Franklin or Osage list covers all Gasconade prisoners.
Search MODOC Gasconade Release Status
The MODOC Offender Search covers active Missouri offenders. That includes people in prison and many people released to parole or serving probation. It does not provide information on discharged offenders. Search by DOC ID when available or use supported name fields, then compare identity details and read the status rather than relying on name alone.
| Search detail | How to use it |
|---|---|
| DOC identifier | Best match when the official number is known |
| Name | Use exact and plausible recorded forms, then verify the result |
| Status | Distinguish prison custody from active community supervision |
| Location or supervision | Shows the correctional institution or community office context |
| Sentence date fields | Use the exact label; a minimum, maximum, or presumptive date is not guaranteed release |
The public search and historical records answer different questions. MODOC’s Sunshine Law page provides a records route and a data dictionary with sentence minimum and maximum release fields and a sentence-completed indicator. A fully discharged person omitted from the ordinary public search may still have public, segregable data available through a bounded records request, subject to closure rules.
The official MODOC entry screen shows where the state lookup begins:
Use that state result only for MODOC custody or supervision. It does not replace the release record for a county-only jail stay.
Can Gasconade Housing Jails Change?
Yes. The Gasconade County Commission’s approved March 13, 2025 minutes identify Franklin and Osage as boarding destinations, but the map is date-specific. Osage County temporarily closed its jail for staffing in July 2025 and sent prisoners elsewhere before planning to reopen. That episode does not prove present closure. It does prove that even a documented receiving jail can move people again.
Start each search with the relevant date. Ask GCSO where the person went, then ask that facility whether it remained the custodian through the exit. If Osage sent the person onward, the next jail’s entry may be the only record of the actual community release. A static third-party page labeled “Gasconade County Jail” cannot resolve this chain and should not be treated as an official source.
The county’s documented boarding arrangement appears in the approved Commission minutes:
The minutes establish documented destinations, not a permanent assignment for every detainee.
Check MOVANS Gasconade Release Alerts
Missouri replaced the old local-jail VINELink phone and app path with its own MOVANS portal in May 2026. Current local-jail registration uses SMS or email, and earlier local-jail subscriptions had to be created again. Search the MOVANS specific-person portal, select the correct agency match, and read the exact status and timestamp. An offline jail can cause a miss, so no result should be checked with the facility.
MODOC notification is separate. Victim Services handles eligible state-corrections notices at 573-526-6516 or victims@doc.mo.gov. Those notices can concern location, parole proceedings, scheduled release, community release, escape, or death when applicable. Local-jail MOVANS registration should not be assumed to control a MODOC alert.
- Parole
- Conditional community release from prison while MODOC legal custody continues.
- Probation
- A court-ordered sentence served under community conditions rather than a prison release.
- Discharge
- The end of a sentence or supervision term under the controlling authority.
- Detainer
- A request or authority that can send a person to another agency instead of the community.
The current MOVANS screen makes the local-jail search source visible:
Corroborate any result with GCSO, the housing jail, or the Gasconade court.
Where Held and Release Info
Gasconade County E-911 links Missouri State Highway Patrol Online Arrest Reports. An MSHP arrest detail can include arrest date and time, county, troop, charge, “Where Held,” and “Release Info.” For a highway-patrol arrest, those two fields can reveal the housing facility and a short-lived release lead when no Gasconade roster exists.
The detail is volatile. A sample indexed report later became unavailable, and the patrol report is not a sheriff booking archive. Save only information needed for a lawful personal, notice, records, or court purpose while it remains public. Then request the durable patrol, housing-jail, and court records. “Release Info” should still be checked for transfer language, since an exit from patrol or jail control may lead to another custodian.
Who Pays Gasconade Boarding Costs?
Prisoner boarding also appears in Gasconade County budget records. The March 2025 Commission minutes say increased boarding between Franklin and Osage affected monitoring of law-enforcement sales-tax expenses. That is a county administration fact, not a fee charged to a released person. The sources do not publish a per-day Gasconade boarding rate, so no amount should be inferred.
The budget issue helps explain why facility identity matters. A payment trail may show which county housed prisoners during a period, while the individual arrest, movement, and court records determine where one person was held. Request those person-specific records rather than using county expense totals as proof of custody or release.
Find Federal Gasconade Release Records
A federal defendant follows a different path. The BOP Inmate Locator covers federal inmates from 1982 forward and can display a historical release date. A past date with no facility, or a “RELEASED” location, means the person is no longer in BOP custody. “IN TRANSIT” is not release, and a future date is projected. Older records can be incomplete, while pre-1982 material may require National Archives research.
The ICE Online Detainee Locator covers current detention and certain releases within the prior 60 days. A missing result can reflect transfer, removal, spelling, delayed display, age, or a release outside that window. USMS has no comparable public historical name search. Use the federal court docket and the correct agency records route when a Gasconade or housing-jail transfer entry names ICE, USMS, or federal custody.
| Status question | Primary source | Key limit |
|---|---|---|
| County-jail exit | GCSO plus the actual housing jail | No all-county online release feed |
| Missouri prison or supervision | MODOC Offender Search | Discharged offenders are excluded |
| Federal prison release | BOP Inmate Locator | Does not show all later custody or supervision |
| Immigration detention | ICE locator | Not a complete release-history archive |
| Legal case outcome | Case.net and Circuit Clerk | Physical movement may update elsewhere first |
Browse Gasconade Release Facilities
The facility map includes originating police agencies, documented boarding jails, state supervision, and federal custody. It does not claim that each location is a jail inside Gasconade County. Choose the page that matches the agency named in the person’s record.
- Gasconade County Sheriff’s Office, the originating and facility-confirmation route
- Franklin County Adult Detention Facility, a documented boarding destination
- Osage County Jail, another documented boarding destination
- Hermann Police Department and Owensville Police Department, municipal arrest sources without verified long-term release archives
- Missouri Department of Corrections Institutions and MODOC Probation and Parole District 16
- Federal Bureau of Prisons for federal confinement and release data
Follow the record’s destination, not a guessed facility. The sender’s movement record and receiver’s intake or status should form one continuous chain.
